Kyle Lowry (Western Conference) and Lebron James (Eastern Conference) have been named NBA’s Players of the Week for the games played March 14 through March 20. This is the first time ever that Houston Rockets’ Lowry has received this award in his career. The 24-year-old is the second player from the Rockets to receive this award this season after Kevin Martin who received it for the games he played from February 22 through to February 27.
The ace played remarkably and made an average of 19.3 points while shooting 26 for 57 from the field, 9 for 20 from the 3-pointer range and 16 for 17 free throw shooting. Dishing out an average of 7.5 dimes, 7.3 rebounds and 1.25 steals as Houston recorded a picture perfect 4-0 record previous week.
The Rockets defeated Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns of the Western Conference to fight for the eighth position in the playoffs. They also handed Boston Celtics an embarrassing 93-77 loss on March 18.
The player scored the first triple-double of his career in the win against Utah Jazz that gave the Rockets the fuel they needed. He posted 28 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 10 assists, recording 3 for 4 three-pointer shooting.
It was his extraordinary performance that helped the Rockets seal a win over the Celtics. He had 20 points and nine assists in the win. He posted 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists while defeating the Charlotte Bobcats, 94-78 on March 16. Opening up the week with a steady pace he pinned 18 points, grabbed six rebounds and pulled out five treys in a win against the Phoenix Suns on March 14.
