Pepu Hernández has signed with Asefa Estudiantes and will lead them for the next two years. Pepu has worked as Head Coach of Estudiantes from 1994 until 2005 and they reached the ACB Finals in 2004. He was named Eurobasket All-Spanish ACB Coach of the Year -04. In 2003 and 2004, Estudiantes played in the ULEB Cup Semifinals. In 2000, they won the Copa del Rey.
Last year and a half Pepu Hernández worked as Head Coach of DKV Joventut and was the Spanish National coach in 2006 and 2007 and Spain won the Gold Medal at the FIBA World Championship 2006 in Japan and Silver Medal at the EuroBasket 2007 in Spain.
