Martynas Gecevicius is the new member of the “red” roster for the 2011-12 season and through Olympiacosbc.gr made his first statements as an Olympiacos player: “I’m very happy that everything has worked out fine and my transfer was completed. I have a great opportunity ahead of me and I will not let it go waste. I’m coming to Olympiacos to become a better player and help the team as much as I can”, the 23year old Lithuanian guard stressed adding: “I like hard work and I’ll try for the best. For example, I know defense is my weak point and I’m going to have to work hard on it. The coach is going to help me and make me better”.
The Lithuanian also spoke about the assets of his game: “I can shoot, and I can also create. In general, I’m a person that does what he is told and I believe I haven’t been completed as a player. I have great margin to improve”.
Gecevicius, who spent a day in Athens with permission granted by the National Team of Lithuania in order to pass a physical, came to his first conclusions about his new… home: “I liked a lot everything I’ve seen so far and I have heard the best. The fact that I came to Greece so soon, passed the physical immediately so as to be within my time limitations and thus complete the transfer is a sign of the organization of the Club and that something I will keep”.
