Jordan Williams assigned to Springfield

The New Jersey Nets have assigned rookie forward Jordan Williams to their NBA Development League affiliate, the Springfield Armor, Nets General Manager Billy King announced today.

Williams was selected 36th overall by New Jersey in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft. The Maryland product has appeared in six games for the Nets, averaging 1.0 point and 1.5 rebounds in 6.2 minutes per game. He has shot 333 (3-9) from the field.

Williams spent two seasons at Maryland, earned All-ACC first team honors after averaging 16.9 points and a conference-best 11.8 rebounds in 32.5 minutes per game during his sophomore season. As a freshman, Williams averaged 9.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, earning All-ACC rookie team honors.

Williams, a native of Torrington, Conn., is expected to be available tomorrow when the Armor host the Maine Red Claws at 7:00 PM at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.
