After a long and successful career in Spanish ACB League, Elmer Bennett decided to quit from professional basketball as he officially announced on Tuesday. According to his words, Bennett decided to leave because he felt he 'couldn't help team as he would like to'. Bennett joined Cajasol last season, and extended his contract this summer. Unfortunately, the good results the team got in the second round of last season couldn't be repeated in the beginning of the current one. Cajasol is 0-4 right now, and stays at the bottom of the ACB standings despite of a several important reinforcements like Triguero, Savanovic or Pecile. Bennett stated that 'I always wondered when this thing would happen. Especially after my stage in Vitoria, I always said to myself that I would keep playing as long as I enjoyed basketball like the first day. But now, I feel that I'm not able to help my teammates as I would like to. Helping my team has been my main responsibility for my whole career, but now I know I'm not doing it at 100%. I don't want to be in any team when I know my level is under the minimum level I demand to myself. I don't want to stay if I cannot help my team'.
