Caja Laboral announced important news today. The ACB runner-up signed 3-year deal with Brazilian point guard Marcelinho Huertas.
The 26-year old Huertas is coming to Caja Laboral from Italian GMAC Real Estate Bologna. He appeared 29 times last season in Serie A averaging 10.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.5 apg and 1.9 spg. In EuroCup he played 6 games adding 8.7 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 2.7 apg. Huertas is well known face in Spain, where he already spent four years in the past. In 2004 he joined DKV Joventut from Brazilian team Paulistano / FMU Sao Paolo. In his first season in ACB Huertas had 7.1 ppg and 2.3 apg. His numbers were very similar in the second and little bit lower in third year with Joventut. Anyway, he helped the team to win FIBA EuroCup in 2006. Seson 2007/08 Huertas played for Lagun Aro Bilbao. It was the impressive year for him as he had 14.6 ppg, 2.7 rpg and 3.9 apg in 34 games.
Marcelinho Huertas was a member of Brazilian National Team on the World Championship 2006 in Japan. He appeared five times averaging 3.8 ppg and 1.8 apg. In 2007 he helped Brazil to win the Gold on Panamerican Games in Sao Paulo.
