Sevilla coach Manolo Jimenez dedicated his sides Copa del Rey win over Barcelon to defender Sergio Sanchez, who has been forced to quit football due to a heart condition.
Los Nervionenses defeated Barca 2-1 at Camp Nou thanks to two second half goals from Diego Capel and Alvaro Negredo either side of a Zlatan Ibrahimovic strike to leave themselves in pole position to progress to the quarter finals of the Copa going into the second leg at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan next week.
"This victory is dedicated to Sergio Sanchez. I hope, I hope he can return. The loss of Sergio is really important. But when he returns it must be fully guaranteed and with the approval of one or many physicians," he told a press conference after the game.
Despite the lead, Jimenez has urged caution ahead of the second leg as his side still has work to do, especially considering the list of injuries.
"We won the first round with the best team in the world. It is a good result but all is not won. We have had many problems with injuries. We've paid dearly for this victory, [Jesus] Navas is injured and Lolo has cramp," he continued. "We have suffered a lot in one month. We expected a complicated January but now expect to have a happy February."
