New Udinese signing Alexandre Geijo spoke for the first time as a member of the Zebrette today, admitting he jumped at the chance to join the Italian outfit.
“As soon as the call came from Udinese, I accepted immediately,” he told in the press conference. “For me it is a unique opportunity."
The 27-year-old arrives from Racing Santander in Spain’s La Liga and revealed his excitement at the opportunity to play in Serie A.
"For me this is a challenge. I'm not frightened by the Italian league, football is the same everywhere and you have to earn a place in the team.” Geijo, who worked under current Udinese coach Gianni De Biasi at Levante went on to admit that he was well aware of the club’s current predicament. “Udinese are experiencing a few complications this season which they are not used to because in recent years they have always been among the top Italian football clubs.”
Finally, the striker said he couldn’t wait to make his debut for the club, adding that he was ready to fight for a first-team place. “I was ready to play from the moment I signed,” he said. “When you arrive in January, it is normal to find a team that is already established. Now it's up to me to prove my worth and repay the faith that I have been given.”
